To say that music is important would be to state the obvious. Our everyday lives are testament to the importance of music, as music is present in a wide variety of ways in each and every day of our waking life. The aim of this project is to explore the music that “speaks” to us, the songs and pieces that remain special to us throughout our lifetime.

This website is where I will present the information I have collected as well as my reflections and analysis. In addition, I will also upload content from interviews with my informants, and my field notes as I progress through this project.

This research wouldn’t be possible without the support of the Andrew Mellon Scholars program at Hope College, and my mentor, Dr. Julia Randel.
